. take a look out over the area. this morning that low pressure system watches there in west virginia. that's the upper level low pressure system making its way northward very quickly. a few tornado warnings this morning of washington county, allegheny county and maryland. it's ju left with a few clouds right now. rain returns to the area, probably starting wednesday night. 78 degrees right now in sterling, 82 degrees right now in the district. georgetown and folks in largo right now at 81 degrees. you dropped one degree. montgomery county right now 81. we'll see clouds leave the area, 68 degrees, but 11: p.m. we're talking about some more tropical rains getting up into our area. that will come from this system right here, which cou be tropical storm nicole, that will be bringing a lost rain tthe area. for the overnight, the evening, our winds diminish, more of those tropical rains comehis way, we'll talk about the amounts expected for the area, 2 to 3 inchesn top of what we've gotten, and it will be a lot more down south too. all that and more coming newspaper a few. >>> a man in cha

one tornado touchdown. that taking place in extreme eastern virginia. apparently damage was relatively minor according to late reports. this is our computer model for the chicago area in the midwest. notice the cloudiness. this model is flirting with periods of clear sky. we're not confident we're going to see an overcast tomorrow or the next day, but it looks like from time to time we will be seeing periods of cloud cover, but probably no rain. it still looks like it's going to be a dry period for the next couple of three days. and probably for the next 7 days. the hot air out west buckling the jet stream out of western canada. that's supplying that cool flow of air and that's a pattern we're not expected to see change appreciably until about wednesday. then we'll be back in the cold again. let's check our forecast. first of all for tonight skies, clouds early, well, mostly cloudy let's say thereafter. calm winds. cool temperatures by the morning hours. low temperature 43 to 49 degrees. then for tuesday mostly cloudy with an isolated shower possible. high temperature betwee

the south. there is a fresh batch coming up from central virginia right now. overnight, expect more showers and a few claps of thunder. we do have a flood threats continuing, however. a couple of different varieties year. it could fled low-lying areas south of the bay. it is a coastal flood warning. southerly winds have pushed the water into the bay. the thais who run it 2 feet above normal. the potential is there for some minor court moderate coastal flooding. over an inch of rain at the airport so far. temperatures were above normal today, even with the rain. they're holding in the 70's right now. 73, downtown baltimore. that contrasts between monday tropical air in the east and colorful air in the west. that boundary will continue to generate some showers as we had to sunrise. you can see the warmer air over the mid atlantic. cooler air is west of the mountains. the warm front triggered some small -- some large storms earlier today. until they can pass through here, we have the chance for more rain. a little bit of an unsettled pattern for a couple more days. shoppers in the morn

through southeast virginia. this is what is going to pivot up in our direction. we're on the warm unstable side of things. area of low pressure to our west will continue to wrap up and bring in drier winds once we head into the afternoon. there's a break in the cloud line, southwestern virginia, that swings through here by lunchtime and the afternoon we should get sun. overall the big pattern highlights this one big storm dominating the eastern seaboard, once that passes through there's another wave of low pressure that is going to catch the tail end of this boundary and ride back up the east coast. that is going to hit us pretty hard with more heavy rain and possible flooding as we head through thursday. we have a flood watch that extends on in through 8:00 this morning. and band of rain will be swinging its way through. during the morning hours and by this afternoon should be passing across the eastern shore and lifting to our north. we should get some dry air here and sunshine but still an isolated storm that could pop up as we head into the afternoon. look at the tail end of the bounda

the baltimore out of virginia and north carolina. at this point in time it's not in here yet. we think there could be more heavy downpours and we have had so urain, two and a quarter inch muchs in manchester and close to an inch everywhere else. that's what we are watching for with this. we are looking at a generally clear night. at the moment 71, humidity 93% and winds south at three. pressure falling. temperatures not that bad but so humid. you can almost cut it with a knife. probably will see fog toward daybreak. really muggy conditions. the humidity numbers high. dew points up around 70. that'so pressive and that will help fuel showers and storms. take you out wider perspective. here is the weather maker. centered over north of atlanta georgia. it's still getting up a lot of atlantic moisture and a lot of rain. i don't think we will see severe storms but we will see heavy downpours through the overnight. we could still see some rain -- we should dry out in to the afternoon. maybe even get the sun out. up around 80 and then into wednesday a dry start but the chance for more ra
